The Democrat Propaganda machine strongly misunderstood this exit poll result
The legacy media has basically become propaganda for the Democrat Party. During the election, they all jumped on the exit polls, specifically the question about how important was the state of the democracy. I doubt that any one of them understand how much it is a concern to those who consider themselves as conservative. This is especially because we believe in the Constitution, which means we know we are supposed to be a Republic, with a two word version with either Constitutional or Democratic in front of it.
So, when you ask people who have watched this nation slip into a democracy (mob rule), yes we are concerned. For that matter, many of us see this nation as more of an oligarchy. So, yes, this is extremely important to those who have seen the mob rule that has spread, along with the spread of lawfare, from this. It has too often been that you watch these jaw waggers and wonder why they do not engage their brain on these matters.
The Question
Here, via Politico, is what they had to say.

“The polls don’t close for hours, but the trickle of network exit polls has officially started — and democracy is shaping up to be a significant issue in voters’ minds.
Democracy mattered most to 35 percent of respondents to the National Election Pool exit poll, according to NBC News. The economy was right behind at 31 percent of voters, followed by abortion with 14 percent, immigration with 11 percent and foreign policy with a paltry 4 percent.
But according to AP Votecast, which is used by The Associated Press and Fox News, the economy reigns supreme for voters — though democracy also proved to be a strong motivator.
That poll found that 39 percent of voters said the economy was the most important issue facing the U.S., followed by immigration at 20 percent and abortion at 11 percent.
Still, nearly half of respondents to that poll identified democracy as the most important factor in their decision to vote.”

The state of democracy and the economy in the U.S. were the top issues on the minds of voters as they cast ballots in the presidential election, according to preliminary results from the NBC News Exit Poll.
Asked to choose among five issues, 34% of voters said democracy mattered most to their votes, while 31% said the economy. Abortion (14%) and immigration (11%) ranked as the next-most-important issues, while just 4% named foreign policy.
Men and women both said the state of democracy was their most important issue, followed by the economy. Two in 10 women said abortion was most important, compared with 8% of men. Immigration was ranked slightly higher among men (12%) than women (10%). Foreign policy lagged behind as a priority for both groups.
A majority of Harris voters prioritized the state of democracy. Abortion was the second-most-important issue to Harris voters, 2 in 10 of whom said it mattered most to their votes, followed by economy, foreign policy and immigration.
Half of Trump voters said the economy was the most important issue to their votes, followed by immigration (20%), democracy (12%), abortion (6%) and foreign policy (4%).
As the election shows, they are failures at understanding people.
Constitutional Take
Benjamin Franklin was approached by Elizabeth Willing Powel and asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” He responded with “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Article IV, Section 4:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Here is what James Madison said in Federalist Letter Number 39.
[W]e may define a republic to be, or at least may bestow that name on, a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure, for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is ESSENTIAL to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion, or a favored class of it; . . . It is SUFFICIENT for such a government that the persons administering it be appointed, either directly or indirectly, by the people; and that they hold their appointments by either of the tenures just specified[.]

Here, via ThoughtCo, is the difference between a republic and a democracy.
In a republic, an official set of fundamental laws, like the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, prohibits the government from limiting or taking away certain inalienable rights of the people—even if that government was freely chosen by a majority of the people. In a pure democracy, the voting majority has almost limitless power over the minority.
There are several ways that people have tried to change these basic truths, but this is the best way to explain this to people.
